Description

Micklethwaite Honey comes from hives kept in and around Micklethwaite, a small village tucked into the Aire Valley just above Bingley. It’s a small, hands-on apiary run by a local Yorkshire beekeeper who bottles everything straight from the hive, so a jar of local honey from Bingley’s Micklethwaite Honey comes direct from the person who looked after the bees. The honey follows the seasons. There’s a Summer Honey, an Autumn Honey and a Winter Honey, and when a batch is gone, it’s gone until the next harvest. Alongside the honey you’ll find beeswax candles and beeswax furniture polish made from the same hives. Jars are stocked at East Morton Community Shop and Hedgehog Organics in Bingley, and you’ll often spot Micklethwaite Honey at local Christmas markets, including the Clarke Foley Community Hub market just over the hill in Ilkley. Away from the home apiary, the beekeeper behind Micklethwaite Honey is one of the small group of volunteers who look after the observation hive at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley. Anyone thinking about keeping bees can get help and advice here too, along with nucleus colonies to get started. Visit our Website.
